15th December saw the Drop In Service host its fantastic Christmas Party!
Over 30 people came along and joined in with the festive celebrations. There was a fantastic game of Pictionary with Mo showing off his artistic talents to everyone. The Christmas raffle proved ever popular – congratulations to the winner Tony who went home with a hamper of goodies worth over £30! The music was supplied by Kickin’ Kevin the DJ from People’s Voice Media who had people up on the dancefloor, boogie -ing away throughout the event.
The highlight of the day for many people though was the sumptuous Christmas dinner rustled up by the ever talented Kitchen team of Ben, Olivia, Sadaf, Margaret and Tony. Thanks guys – I’ll be down the gym working off those pounds for the next few days at least!
A special thanks to everyone who contributed to the event including our volunteers, Tony, Hamera, Margaret, Olivia and Kevin and to everyone who came along on the day and throughout 2009.
The Roby team would like to wish everyone from the Drop In Group a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

It was a special day for our special service user Dawn. She celebrated a big birthday, and because she’s such a wonderful woman we thought we’d give her a big treat.
She got some lovely presents from her friends at the Drop In, we also arranged a quiz in her honour, which she won!!!

I really enjoyed the trip to Chester Zoo. It was very interesting because when we arrived a lovely lady welcomed us and gave usa guided tour, which was great. We got to see the baby Giraffe and while we were viewing the baby stood up on all it’s feet!
My favourite was the Elephants. We viewed them outside and the big Elephant had a fight with the small elephant. That was the best laugh of the day.
The butterfly house was great. I have never seen so many lovely colours.
You learn something every day. The weather was pleasant and I would like to go back next year!

The Roby is arranging a meeting on the afternoon of the 5th August 2009 @ The Roby starting at 15:30 and going on no later than 17:00 to discuss ideas and how we could introduce a Breakfast Club at The Roby.
I would like us to open the doors from 08:30 to 09:30, Monday to Friday to provide refreshments, help people get their best meal of the day, socialise and also allow people to speak to staff members and volunteers if they have any problems and provide support and/or solutions so that they might have a more enjoyable day. I think this could be a great remedy to waking up and feeling like the whole day is going to be crap!
This would need to be a user-led initiative, with food and drinks donated and the kitchen staffed by volunteers, so I need your ideas.
The agenda for the day will be:
Agreeing “what is on offer”?
Working out how it will work?
Who will do what (action planning and recruiting volunteers)?
How to advertise?
Paul Beswick from FareShare Food has kindly agreed to attend to discuss what FareShare can offer and how their scheme works.
If you could please promote this event to your service users / volunteers and networks and I would be grateful if people could RSVP to me if they would like to attend.
Kind regards,
Ben Crouch
