The Roby provides vital services to the residents of Manchester who require support in their mental health and general well-being. The charity provides free counselling services to anyone that requires them, ensuring that issues like depression, anxiety and sadness are not left to fester in isolation. We also provide social and therapeutic spaces including a drop in centre on a Tuesday morning in which participants can interact, play games, learn new skills and enjoy an affordable freshly made lunch. We also have several well attended spaces specifically targeted to the South Asian community and their needs, plus a vibrant Parent & Toddlers group where for some children it is their only chance to play with others before they attend infant school. The work of the Roby is vital for the most excluded communities and individuals within society, especially in allowing them to get together and share their experiences, alongside practical work including counselling that empowers them to lead happier and fulfilling lives. The Roby has been supporting people living with mental health conditions for the last 20 years since 'Care in the Community' was introduced by the Government in the Eighties. |
